Live Well CBD has taken the step towards further refining our products to offer a premium products at a fair price so that all can afford to try and regularly use Full Spectrum extract that is higher in CBD without increasing the THC content and removing the inert parts of the extract that can create a strong aroma and flavour. The process we selected was Winterisation, similar to De-Waxing but as it is a gentle process we do not lose valuable cannabinoids in order to provide a stronger, cleaner product. The process involves dissolving the whole plant extract in organic ethanol. The mixture will begin to separate as the waxes and trichomes break away from the cannabinoids, the mixture is then cooled and frozen at -32.5 Celsius at which point the waxes and trichomes will solidify. Once this step is completed the mixture is filtered completely separating the solids from the cannabinoids that are still suspended in ethanol, the solids are discarded and we return to the liquid which is now a lighter colour and has a more green appearance. The next step is exceptionally important and where most processors will lose part of their cannabinoid yield, the mixture must be heated to evaporate the ethanol without destroying the cannabinoids, through very careful testing we discovered the perfect temperature to do this. Over several hours the ethanol completely evaporates and the remaining oil is much more pure than the extract that we started out with and still maintains all of the cannabinoids that it started with. This product is tested for quality and then mixed with a carrier to be bottled. We discovered that by using a custom temperature during evaporation of the ethanol we get a higher than average CBD content while THC remains low, this is because the CBDA is chemically altered becoming CBD in the process. As a result of this process we can provide our customers with a product that not only tastes better but is also stronger and cleaner.
